The Omanhene of the Essikado Traditional Area in the Western Region, Nana Kobina Nketsia V has charged Ghanaian youth to emulate the fearless nature of past leaders to help build the country.
Nana Nketsia eulogized the youth of the 1930s to 60s for their daring conducts which paved the way for the country’s independence.
He mentioned the likes of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, J.B Danquah, Professor Nketsia and other illustrious Ghanaians who used their youthful exuberance for many revolts and other boycotts.
He praised them for defending what they believed in even in the face of death.
Addressing a youth forum in the Western Region, the Essikado Omanhene stated that people use fear to win power over others and therefore advised the youth to concentrate on how to develop themselves to the betterment of the nation as whole.
He urged them not to focus on material gains of others which have the tendency of luring them into shady deals.
“Take your mind away from it, it is your life that matters and the way you live it,” he said.
Nana Nketsia also mentioned that the quest of seeking greener pastures outside the country “won’t do any ‘foko’ [nothing] noting that “if the Sarbah’s hadn’t returned, if Nkrumah hadn’t returned, if JB Danquah had not returned, where will we be today?”
