Asante Kotoko go into Wednesday’s First Capital Plus Premier League against Heart of Lions with the aim of staying on top of the table and getting closer to their third straight league title.
The Porcupine Warriors are 11 points clear of second-placed Hearts of Oak but according to their team manager, Godwin Ablordey, they remain determined enough to look for another victory against Lions.
“We are taking this match very serious because there are still a good number of games left to be played. We must keep working hard so that we can take the title at the end of the season”, he said in an interview with Citi Sports on Tuesday.
He explained that the unveiling of the league trophy at the GFA’s Headquarters on Monday has heightened their desire to emerge as champions.
“We saw the trophy earlier this week and we will make sure that we become the first team to win it. That is why we must beat Lions on Wednesday.”
He also confirmed the availability of forward Seidu Bencey after he was suspended for the club’s MTN FA Cup against Istanbul FC on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Bancey is the club’s leading scorer with 10 goals.
