A former national chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Peter Mac Manu has accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of not using the Automatic Fingerprints Inspection System (AFIS), a technology used to check multiple biometric registrations.
According to the NPP former chairman, the Electoral Commission’s claim that it used the AFIS technology cannot be true due to the number of multiple registrations which were not detected.
Speaking to Citi News at a consultative conference for stakeholders on voter registration, Peter Mac Manu said the EC deceived Ghanaians in 2012 , adding that the non-usage of the AFIS technology didn’t facilitate the detection of multiple voting.
“The AFIS technology is able to detect whether someone has done double, triple, quadruple registration. Around the whole world, we have different kinds of such propriety technology so which one is Ghana using because for me I still believe that there are multiple registration on the list and it is because the AFIS technology was not used,” he explained
