Ghanaian boxing legend Azumah Nelson has been discharged and is convalescing at home after suffering an accident last Saturday.
The two-time WBC featherweight champion’s Ford four-wheel drive was involved in an accident at Odorkor on the Kaneshie-Mallam road on the night of March 11 where he suffered a gash on the head and was rushed to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
His manager reports, however, that the two-time WBC welterweight champion has been discharged and is doing well at home.
“I just went to see him this morning and he is okay. The accident was on Saturday, he got a bit hurt after a taxi driver ran into his car but he is doing well. We’d like to thank all those who rushed to help and sent in their best wishes,” Yaw Sakyi told Citi Sports.
However the taxi driver, who also got injured in the accident, was sent to the same health facility for treatment but was discharged that same day.
DSP Abdulai Mumuni, the Odorkor Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) Commander had told the Daily Guide newspaper that the accident occurred at about 10:30pm that night.
Both cars involved in the crash are currently with the police, while investigations are still ongoing.
