Indigenous domestic airline operator, Africa World Airlines (AWA) is projecting a significant increase in its market share by the end of this year.
According to data from the Ghana Airport Company Limited, the airline as at the end of the third quarter of last year had the lowest market share among its peers with its share hovering around eight percent.
However, the airline says it currently has 16 percent market share.
Chief Operations Officer for the airline, Appigy Afenu told Citi Business News, the airline hopes to grab 25% of market share by year end.
He said: “For us we think that a fair market share should be around 25 percent so we are targeting at least 25 percent for this year and we have the capacity to do that. We have three aircrafts and even if we do full Abuja, Lagos, Tamale and Kumasi we will still have spare capacity so we can quickly lump up the market share and get the 25 percent.”
