Goalkeeper of the Black Maidens, Azume Adams, has spoken of her delight at the team’s performances during the ongoing U17 World Cup in Costa Rica.
The Maidens have recorded two wins over Korea DPR and Germany in their group and have qualified for the quarter finals of the tournament with a game yet to be played and according to Adams, they have earned the success.
” I knew we would get things right here in Costa Rica. We trained very well ahead of the World Cup and the hardwork is paying off”, she said in an interview.
Adams played a key part in helping the team beat Germany on Tuesday and she was named as the game’s best player for her efforts. She indicated that the plaudits were expected.
” I am not surprised at what I was able to do in that match. I believe I can do a lot more as the tournament wears on.”
The Maidens will complete their group stage matches on Saturday against Canada who have two points from their draws with Germany and Korea DPR.
