Citi News has gathered that the first accused standing trial in the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA) case, Philip Akpeena Assibit is likely to be released on bail Tuesday February 25.
Attempts to get him released on Monday failed much to the disappointment of his family who spoke to Citi News earlier.
One of Assibit’s lawyers, Joseph Kpemka told Citi News he was very confident his client will be released after meeting the bail bond.
He said, “We have presented enough documentation very close to hundred percent, which have been verified by the CID and EOCO for that matter and we are just waiting for them to give us the green light and my client will be released any moment from now from the Nsawam prisons.”
He warned that the legal team will have no option other than to explore legal options if Philip Akpeena Assibit is not released as expected.
“I can say without any fear of contradiction that at the end of today we will have my client coming out from Prison but if there are any hindrances again, I think that we will have to think about other options rather than just relying on the verifications by the CID.”
Philip Akpeena Assibit who is the Chief Executive Officer of Goodwill International Consultancy Firm is standing trial with the former GYEEDA National Coordinator, Hon. Abuga Pele over alleged financial misappropriation of GYEEDA funds.
