Jonathan MensahHaving missed the Black Stars’ last international meet due to injury, defender Jonathan Mensah is delighted with the call back on Monday.

Kwesi Appiah named the player among a host of others for the Black Stars team for the country’s friendly with Montenegro in March.

“On a positive note, I’m happy to back in the Ghana squad for the friendly with Montenegro next month. It will be good to see my national team-mates again after missing the last international fixture through injury,” the Evian man said in an interview.

Clearly a man who notes the performances of his national teammates in France, Mensah touched on what has been a good weekend for his friends.

“Majeed Waris keeps banging in the goals which means he gets another mention in my blog this week. He has been phenomenal and really showcasing his undoubted talent. I watched Rennes last night and was pleased to see John Boye back in action. This will serve as good news for Ghana, as Andre Ayew has also made full return for Marseille.”

Speaking to African Football Shop, the 23-year old touched on his last league match with Bordeaux as well.

“It was good to be back with the team for our trip to Bordeaux on Saturday. I wasn’t too disappointed not to play but rather relieved to be in contention after suspension.

“Watching the game from the bench always gives you another perspective as a player. You tend to analyse the game more and at half-time you get the chance to relay information which may help your team-mates.”

His team are currently 17th in Ligue 1 and fighting to stave off the relegation threat.
