Alhaji Said Sinare, Ghana’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is asking government to abolish the issuance of Visa-20 to Ghanaians to travel to Kuwait.

[contextly_sidebar id=”PnFHkzTlwqhpR3YqMPDbi9m5kR3mdTTN”]This he said is the only way to end the maltreatment meted out to Ghanaians, especially the women who travel to that country in search of greener pastures.

The women are usually taken by recruitment agencies into these countries in the Gulf States to do menial jobs but end up being subjected to all forms of abuses instead of the jobs promised them.

Some of the victims told Alhaji Said Sinare when he visited some of them who have been hospitalised, that the situation is terrible.

Speaking on the Point Blank Segment of Eyewitness News, Alhaji Said Sinare insisted that “the only thing we can do as a government to stop all these malpractices, these evil acts will be for us to stop that visa-20 issue.”

“If that visa 20 permit are stopped then I can guarantee you that we will have peace among our brothers and sisters in Kuwait.”

He however blamed the local agencies who recruit these Ghanaians “because they promise them so much that they are going to earn $1500 a month and that is not true. They hardly even earn $200 a month and what they go through here is hell and it’s not something that we as Ghanaians can’t boast off.”

He observed that those in the professional fields such as teachers, lecturers, nurses are not facing such problems.

Alhaji Sinare further assured that “as long as I am an ambassador here I’m going to make sure that I recommend to government that we need to stop that visa-20 for housemaids and that should be canceled because Nigeria has done it, Ivory Coast has done and Egypt has done it and there is a need for us to stop it.”
