Attorney General, Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong has sharply responded to businessman Alfred\u00a0Woyome who has accused her of receiving about \u00a0GH\u00a21.4 million from the GH\u00a251 million judgment debt paid him and has asked her to resign.<\/p>\n

This was in reply to a letter written to Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong \u00a0by Woyome suggesting that she should resign because she\u00a0\u00a0\u201cwearing a biased lens in making decisions concerning this case.\u201d<\/p>\n

Responding to the letter on Accra based Asempa Fm, Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong said\u00a0 \u201cI will not resign, the President is behind me and I will fight this case till the end.\u201d<\/p>\n

She insisted that \u201cthe letter is dishonest, unnecessary and an attempt to throw dust in the eyes of Ghanaians.”<\/p>\n

\u201cI have not worked for Woyome before and I have the full backing of the President to do my job and I will continue to fight this case and take back the monies for the people of Ghana,” she added.<\/p>\n

An Accra High Court acquitted and discharged Mr Woyome of charges of causing\u00a0financial loss to the state and defrauding by false pretense.<\/p>\n

The AG who disagreed with the ruling has subsequently filed an appeal against the ruling.<\/p>\n

In a letter addressed to the AG, on March 13, Mr Woyome said:\u00a0\u201cI am humbly appealing to you [Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong] to step aside or resign totally as an Attorney General for another person to pursue the appeal in the interest of the justice.\u201d<\/p>\n
