However the Minister of Interior, Mark Woyongo believes the Police are capable of unraveling the circumstances leading to the escape of the suspected criminals.

He told Citi News that Ghana rarely records such incidents and further appealed to Ghanaians to remain calm as investigations into the case continue.

“For a very long time we have not had any Police cell break and for a very long time we have not had any attempted prison break. These are two isolated cases and I don’t think there should be any cause for alarm. The security agencies are on top of the situation,” he remarked.

The Denu Divisional commander who revealed this to TV3 news also revealed that the Police “mobilized officers from other divisions to augment” their strength.

He said there are “about 80 officers and with the presence of the regional police commander”, they “combed dilapidated buildings to see if they’re hiding the weapons”

He said though earlier attempts to arrest the culprits proved fruitless, they are “still in the process.”
