{"id":99237,"date":"2015-03-13T17:17:34","date_gmt":"2015-03-13T17:17:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=99237"},"modified":"2015-03-13T17:17:34","modified_gmt":"2015-03-13T17:17:34","slug":"denu-youth-besiege-police-station-after-cell-break","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/03\/denu-youth-besiege-police-station-after-cell-break\/","title":{"rendered":"Denu Youth besiege Police station after cell break"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angry residents of Denu in the Ketu South Municipality in the Volta Region today besieged the Police Station demanding the release of a resident, whose name was only given as Kabila.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;3eLtsZtdFInuovgprdThZSd8UAJKCBNa&#8221;]Kabila was arrested by the police for allegedly inciting the youth of the town to demonstrate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kabila was alleged to have received death threats from some suspected armed robbers <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/03\/13\/seven-suspects-break-cell-in-denu-bolt-with-rifles\/#sthash.sHiC2r0e.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\">who escaped from Police cells Friday dawn<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kabila was one of several youth who helped arrest the suspected armed robbers and handed them to security authorities about four months ago.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">An eyewitness, Joseph Gidiglo who spoke to <strong>Citi News<\/strong> from the Police Station said even though Kabila informed the police of the threats on his life, they failed to act.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis morning when they (suspects) broke jail, he called Kabila threatening him that he\u2019s now out so he should prepare for his death. So Kabila went to the police station to report but they didn\u2019t take any serious action then he went ahead to burn the tyres and the police arrested him,\u201d Joseph narrated the incidence to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to him the youth then besieged the police station and demanded for his release.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He added that the people of the town were beginning to lose confidence in the police because \u201cthey were not helping them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhen we managed to arrest the armed robbers and sent them to the police station, they allowed them to go.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, Municipal Chief Executive for Ketu South, Pascal Lamptey has dismissed the allegations that the police personnel in the Municipality were shielding suspected robbers there.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI was part of the team; we mobilized the youth, went after them (the suspects) and got them arrested. They were handed over to the police and were in courts early last week and remanded.
