{"id":99195,"date":"2015-03-13T12:50:24","date_gmt":"2015-03-13T12:50:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=99195"},"modified":"2015-03-13T12:50:24","modified_gmt":"2015-03-13T12:50:24","slug":"british-airways-unveils-special-livery-for-great-festival-of-creativity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/03\/british-airways-unveils-special-livery-for-great-festival-of-creativity\/","title":{"rendered":"British Airways unveils special livery for GREAT Festival of Creativity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rose and bamboo in creative harmony as airline partners with Chinese\u00a0designer Masha Ma on bespoke design British Supermodel Georgia May Jagger launches GREAT aircraft in style British \u00a0Airways \u00a0today \u00a0unveiled \u00a0a \u00a0777 \u00a0aircraft \u00a0with \u00a0a \u00a0livery design specially-created \u00a0by \u00a0celebrated \u00a0Chinese \u00a0fashion \u00a0designer Masha Ma.<\/p>\n<p>The aircraft landed into Shanghai airport this morning to celebrate the opening\u00a0of \u00a0the \u00a0GREAT Festival of Creativity, Shanghai, which is being attended by\u00a0The Duke of Cambridge, HRH Prince William.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Masha-Ma-and-British-Airways-Ambassadors-celebrate-the-launch-of-the-GREAT-Festival-of-Creativity.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"  wp-image-99207 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Masha-Ma-and-British-Airways-Ambassadors-celebrate-the-launch-of-the-GREAT-Festival-of-Creativity.jpg\" alt=\"Masha Ma and British Airways Ambassadors celebrate the launch of the GREAT   Festival of Creativity\" width=\"631\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>British supermodel, Georgia May Jagger was on hand to launch the new GREAT\u00a0design, \u00a0dressed \u00a0in \u00a0Masha Ma\u2019s Spring \/ Summer 2015 collection, which has\u00a0shown at Paris Fashion Week.\u00a0The\u00a0design \u00a0by \u00a0Ma \u00a0on the Boeing 777-200 aircraft, depicts a bamboo and a\u00a0rose in an east-meets-west fusion of symbols and artistic styles.<\/p>\n<p>British Airways engineering team used specialist techniques to paint the aircraft with Ma\u2019s design which combines a western impressionistic style with Chinese ink-and-wash painting methods.<\/p>\n<p>The design which took over 2472 man-hours and 186 individual stencils to apply, will fly around the world on British Airways\u2019 global network for years to come. Watch the specially-created livery design being painted onto the aircraft:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBamboo \u00a0and \u00a0roses \u00a0have \u00a0significant \u00a0cultural \u00a0connotations in China and\u00a0Britain \u00a0respectively, \u00a0and are each cherished symbols. In Chinese culture,\u00a0bamboo \u00a0represents \u00a0modesty, \u00a0integrity and vitality. For Britain, the rose<\/p>\n<p>symbolises \u00a0love, \u00a0nobility \u00a0and \u00a0dignity,\u201d \u00a0said \u00a0Ma, \u00a0who \u00a0studied at the\u00a0world-renowned Central Saint Martins art college in London.\u00a0\u201cAs \u00a0Sino-British \u00a0ties \u00a0continue \u00a0to \u00a0bloom \u00a0and flourish, I felt that the\u00a0meeting \u00a0of \u00a0bamboo \u00a0with \u00a0a rose would be the perfect way to celebrate the\u00a0growing \u00a0friendship \u00a0and collaboration between the two countries,\u201d added Ma\u00a0in explaining her design concept.<\/p>\n<p>Richard Tams, British Airways executive vice president China, said, \u201dWe are\u00a0delighted \u00a0to \u00a0have \u00a0the \u00a0opportunity \u00a0to work with Masha on such an iconic\u00a0project . Her inspiring design delivers a strong message: that of a growing\u00a0and \u00a0flourishing relationship between the cultures of Britain and China. We\u00a0hope \u00a0it \u00a0will \u00a0encourage \u00a0individuals \u00a0and businesses in both countries to forge closer ties.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The festival, which runs from March 2 to 4 at the Long Museum in Shanghai, is part \u00a0of \u00a0the \u00a0GREAT \u00a0Britain \u00a0campaign \u00a0aimed at promoting the UK as a\u00a0world-class destination \u00a0for \u00a0trade, \u00a0tourism, investment and education to<\/p>\n<p>generate\u00a0jobs \u00a0and \u00a0growth. \u00a0The festival will be attended by The Duke of Cambridge, HRH Prince William, the first visit to the Chinese mainland by a senior member of the British royal family in almost three decades.<\/p>\n<p>At the festival, British Airways will collaborate with Visit Britain to showcase the \u00a0best \u00a0of \u00a0British \u00a0hospitality as they welcome visitors to a unique \u00a0garden \u00a0party, \u00a0inspired \u00a0by \u00a0the royal tradition. A quintessential\u00a0British afternoon tea will \u00a0be served by British Airways cabin crew, and\u00a0there will be a showcase of the airline\u2019s royal heritage memorabilia.<\/p>\n<p>British Airways and VisitBritain will also host a masterclass on creativity\u00a0and culture in modern Britain.
