The Vice President, K. B. Amissah-Arthur, has arrived in Tokyo, Japan for the 3rd\u00a0U.N. World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction.<\/p>\n
He is accompanied by his wife, Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur.<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/p>\n The conference, which will be held in the city of Sendai from March 14 to 18, is expected\u00a0to adopt guidelines on bolstering counter-measures to climate-related disasters, which are worsening in some parts of the world.<\/p>\n The guidelines are expected to stress the importance of disaster prevention measures\u00a0and investment in infrastructure in developing countries so that natural calamities do not hamper economic growth.<\/p>\n Whilst in Tokyo, Mr Amissah-Arthur will hold meetings with top-level officials of the\u00a0Government of Japan, including the Foreign Minister and the chairperson of Japan\u2019s\u00a0Parliamentary Select Committee for Defence, Overseas Development Assistance and Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n
