The United Cadres Front (UCF) is challenging members of the clergy who criticize the John Mahama administration to consider becoming “full-time politicians.”<\/p>\n

\u201cIf somebody wants to go into politics, the person should remove is cassock and go into full time politics and let us know that we are dealing with politicians. We don\u2019t want people hiding behind the pulpit to enhance their political fortunes,\u201d said the General Secretary of the United Cadres Front, Efanam Nyaku.<\/p>\n
The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev. Professor Emmanuel Martey over the weekend remarked that if he were the President of Ghana, he would have been able to fix the nation\u2019s energy crisis within three months.<\/p>\n
\u201cGhana is not a big country for you to take one year to solve this problem. Four months you can solve it – at most six months. Last I was telling my people that if I were in charge within three months I\u2019ll solve the problem,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
His comments received mixed reactions from the general public \u2013 while some commended him for his bold declaration, other vilified him for doing the political bidding of another political party.<\/p>\n
Mr. Nyaku told Citi News<\/strong>, Rev. Prof Martey\u2019s comments raises a lot of questions.<\/p>\n He asked; \u201cDoes he have a holistic appreciation of what the problem really is? If you listen to the content of his speech, it was as if he was deriving and belittling the Mahama administration.\u201d<\/p>\n According to Nyaku, the clergy have a duty spearhead and give directions to the country but not to condemn the leaders who are working to develop the nation.<\/p>\n He said Ghanaians expect the clergy to play their role by \u201cinstituting prayer schemes that can influence the spiritual to come to our aid.\u201d<\/p>\n He further admonished them \u201cto get hold of the real facts and explain the situation to their following,\u201d adding that members of the clergy should not belittle the efforts being made by the President to address national issues.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana
