Government is implementing an economic transformation policy aimed at diversifying the base of Ghana’s economy, President John Dramani Mahama has revealed.<\/p>\n

The President said this\u00a0during the first of his three-day official visit to Botswana.<\/p>\n

“At a time that Botswana is implementing a policy of economic diversification, we in Ghana are implementing a policy of economic transformation aimed at diversifying the base of our economy, positioning Ghana as an export-driven economy and adding value to our natural resources and building an industrial capacity” the President said.<\/p>\n

The President also pointed out that Ghana is working towards becoming “a full fledged middle income country”<\/p>\n

He said Ghana will “continue to rely on brotherly nations like Botswana to help share experience of stable democracy, strong institutions, respect for human rights and the enormous benefits of changing governments only through the ballot box with other countries.”<\/p>\n

President noted that trade barriers between Ghana and Botswana remain\u00a0issues that require “a continent-wide commitment to tackle” it.<\/p>\n

“The effort to bridge the constraints to movement among our countries is been tackled at the level of the African Union, but the process needs to be fast tracked.”<\/p>\n
