President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to improve the nation’s road network to accelerate socio-economic development.<\/p>\n
He said all feeder and major roads linking farming communities to the district capitals will be constructed in line with the Better Ghana agenda.<\/p>\n
President Mahama was speaking at a\u00a0ceremony for the official commencement of construction work on the eastern corridor road in Yendi.<\/p>\n
He stated, “In consonance with the Better Ghana Agenda of government we will endeavour to ensure that the community is provided with the necessary road infrastructure to facilitate the attainment of the development goals and social aspirations of the people.”<\/p>\n
According to the President, the commitment of government to construct the 209km Oti Damanko-Nakpanduri road section of the eastern corridor road was physical evidence of major road networks government is constructing across the country.<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/p>\n He revealed that the Roads Minister will lead a government delegation to China to lobby for financing of the construction of the Nakpanduri-Kulungugu road.<\/p>\n He mentioned the Wa-Tumu Bolga, Tamale-Makango, Yendi-Chereponi, Yendi-Zabzugu and Tamale-Karaga-Gusheigu roads among others.<\/p>\n He said government was working on 44 trunk road projects across the country funded by the Government of Ghana and its development partners.<\/p>\n The roads include Kpando-Worawora-Dambai phase 3 (70km), Asikuma junction-Hohoe (45km), Nkwanta-Otidamanko (50km), Dodo Pepesu-NKWANTA (46km) and Asankragub-Enchi roads.<\/p>\n
