{"id":97282,"date":"2015-03-07T15:00:44","date_gmt":"2015-03-07T15:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=97282"},"modified":"2015-03-07T12:06:37","modified_gmt":"2015-03-07T12:06:37","slug":"no-tension-between-muslims-and-christians-chief-imam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/03\/no-tension-between-muslims-and-christians-chief-imam\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;No tension between Muslims and Christians&#8217; &#8211; Chief Imam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam has said that there is no tension between the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/03\/07\/dont-panic-over-seeming-religious-tension-peace-council-to-ghanaians\/#sthash.EgkZyVlk.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Muslim community and Christians<\/strong><\/a><\/span> as was being suggested in some media circles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;UNByD8QXWf7JPmTqOu0vmRGUGCiduMNJ&#8221;]He said the two religious groups are living in harmony and would continue to do so, whilst the recent issue, on the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/03\/01\/we-wont-attend-devotion-muslims-reject-ges-directive\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>rights of Muslim students<\/strong><\/a><\/span> attending Christian-based schools, is solved through dialogue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The National Chief Imam said this when Nesrin Bayazit, the Turkish Ambassador to Ghana paid a courtesy call on him at his residence in Accra.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sheikh Sharubutu thanked the Turkish Ambassador for the visit and the continued support the Turkish government was giving to the Muslim community.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He appealed to the Turkish government to give his office a quota of its annual scholarship to students abroad, to be given to needy but brilliant students from the Ghanaian Muslim community.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ambassador Bayazit said the Turkish government attached much importance to the development of the Muslim community in Ghana and would continue to provide assistance in such regard.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She mentioned the on-going construction of the National Mosque at Kanda in Accra, being finance by the Turkish government, as some of the packages to help develop the Muslim community.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ambassador Bayazit commended the various religious leaders in Ghana for their tolerance and urged all to continue to sustain it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She said her outfit would seriously consider the request by the National Chief Imam, regarding the scholarship given to students abroad and the quota to his office.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Source: GNA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam has said that there is no tension between the Muslim community and Christians as was being suggested in some media circles.
