Ahead of Ghana’s 58th Independence Day Parade which will be held at the Black Stars Square, the Police have announced that they\u00a0will temporarily close some roads in Accra on March 6, 2015.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”HF3FDWxllSvkptisr6A9BXoHFFfPYjyZ”]The roads are the 28th<\/sup> February road from CEPS Headquarters to Castle Junction, Osu Cemetrary Traffic light on the Lokko Street and the Castle road from AU circle to Osu cemetery traffic light.<\/p>\n According to the Police the roads which will be closed from 6:00am on March 6, \u201cis to ensure the smooth management and conduct of both human and vehicular traffic before, during and after the event.\u201d<\/p>\n A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer at the Accra Regional Police Command, ASP Effia Tenge, implored motorists \u201cto note these arrangements and plan for alternative routes before embarking on their journeys.\u201d<\/p>\n It added that no vehicle will be allowed to park or drive through the closed routes.<\/p>\n \u201cVehicles with assigned stickers will be allowed to pass through Police check points after meticulous screening.\u201d<\/p>\n The Police further entreated road users to bear and corporate with them saying \u201cany inconveniences caused are deeply regretted.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile some\u00a0Personnel of the security agencies in the country are gearing up for Independence Day parade<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n The security agencies, Military, Police, among others were seen on Wednesday preparing for the session which will be held on Friday.<\/p>\n Ghana gained freedom from its colonial masters on 6th March 1957 with Dr Kwame Nkrumah being the first Prime Minister.<\/p>\n Before March 1957 Ghana was called the Gold Coast.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Godwin Allotey Akweiteh\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n
