The organizers of the One Ghana protest have rejected claims that some members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) who joined the exercise were heckled.

[contextly_sidebar id=”VPGTR8kVkPW4iiyBjtYWONXjpcdoBGrf”]Some NPP claimed they were heckled and prevented from joining the exercise by some members of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The NPP members including the party’s Communications Director, Nana Akomea were angry saying they did not understand why the NDC members chased them out when the protest was not partisan.

Pressure group, Coalition for the Defence of Equal Citizenship (CODEC) organized a protest aimed at expressing their displeasure of ethnocentric comments allegedly made by NPPs Osafo Marfo.

The protest according to the organizers was “essentially to create the needed awareness, why we to leave together peacefully as a state, that we must at all times cherish that cardinal principle that there can always be unity in diversity.”

"npp

Speaking on Eyewitness News, convener of the group, Edudzi Kudzo Tameklo refuted the claims by the NPP insisting that nothing of that sort happened at during the protest.

This he said is because ironically some members of the NPP including Dominic Nitiwul and Mike Oquaye were part of the protest from beginning to the end.

"npp

“We had the opportunity of being accompanied throughout the walk by Dominic Nitiwul, Mike Oquaye Junior, David Asante and several NPP members so the very question that they were heckled or sacked cannot be entirely accurate,” Mr Tameklo added.
