Kadre Ouedraogo is President of the ECOWAS Commission<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

President of the ECOWAS Commission, Kadr\u00e9 D\u00e9sir\u00e9 Ouedraogo says the war against terrorism in the West African sub-region can only be won through good governance and eradication of youth unemployment.<\/p>\n

He acknowledged that the war against terrorism will \u201ccertainly be won through military actions; nonetheless, the long term solution to fighting terrorism is economic development and youth employment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Ouedraogo was addressing heads of state at the 44th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Heads of State and government on going in Ivory Coast.<\/p>\n

The two-day summit will see the heads of state discussing a wide range of issues related to greater integration, transformation and prosperity.<\/p>\n

Addressing the ECOWAS heads of states, Mr. Kadr\u00e9 D\u00e9sir\u00e9 Ouedraogo cited the activities of Boko Haram in Nigeria which has killed thousands of Nigerians over the years.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cThe atrocities of the Boko Haram sect in northern Nigeria that we strongly condemn is indeed a stack reminder of the need to embark on some preparation efforts at the regional level.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to him, democracy and the respect of human dignity is another avenue through which governments can combat terrorism.<\/p>\n

He called for the deepening of regional integration \u201cwhile giving due attention to peace and stability.\u201d<\/p>\n
