Kojoga Adawudu, lawyer for Aisha Asumda, the lady suspected to be behind the recent Police recruitment scam has accused the Police of deceiving the public on the matter insisting that his client is not on the run.

[contextly_sidebar id=”MnlbVZSd7IJjhK2dSbViKFKCfBgbRmcX”]According to Kojoga Adawudu the Police’s claim that his client is at large is a “blatant lie.”

“It was falsehood that was peddled and a blatant lie that she is on the run [and] that she is a fugitive running from justice is not true,” he added.

Hundreds of people showed up at some five police training depots last Saturday for enlistments into the service but turned out to be a scam.

The Police subsequently arrested one suspect and were quick to announce that the other suspect, Aisha Asumda was on the run.

Mr. Adawudu in an interview with Citi News insisted that Aisha Asumda who is in court for a similar offence has been granted bill saying “I’m actually embarrassed and I couldn’t even believe it that the top hierarchy saying something that has not been crosschecked.”

He further downplayed the possibility of his client masterminding such a scam against a serious security agency like the Police.

“…they made the public believe that a lady of 36 years can marshal all the resources and the support against the Ghana Police service and be the cause of this scam. We are in court, I believe that she is innocent until proven by a competent court of jurisdiction that yes she defrauded people. If the Police believe that they have a case, let them come to court and prove it,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior has begun investigations into the matter.
