The Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka has taken a swipe on the Ghana Education Service and the Ghana National Association of Teachers for supporting “alleged discrimination” against Muslim students in schools.<\/p>\n
According to him such comments from the two bodies contradict governments stance on the matter.<\/p>\n

The GES and GNAT are contending that, all students regardless of their religion must attend morning devotions<\/strong><\/a><\/span> in especially second cycle institutions in the country; a situation, which the Muslim community is against.<\/p>\n The Muslim Community has demonstrated to protest such action meted against their students claiming Muslim women are also prevented from wearing their veils on campus.<\/p>\n President Mahama during his State of the Nation Address stated that authorities infringing on the rights of the Muslim students will be sanctioned<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n Muntaka calls for dialogue<\/strong><\/p>\n Speaking on Eyewitness News<\/strong>, Mubarak Muntaka who is also a member of the Muslim Caucus in Parliament called for dialogue between the stakeholders in order to find a lasting solution to the matter.<\/p>\n
