Accra Brewery Limited (ABL) has inaugurated its new plants to double its production capacity and increase product lines at a cost of US$100million.<\/p>\n
The inaugurated US$100million project includes the construction of two new state-of-the art packaging lines, a new warehouse and material storage area, as well as a waste-treatment plant and electricity sub-station including s vehicle workshop and an ultra-modern office complex.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”yycGr3ZJPcw4PbS4Dj5cYoWciilDidiM”]The expansion work which was not completed with the inauguration of the new plant is also expected to include in the future the setting up of a waste-water treatment plant fitted with yeast-digester in line with SABMiller\u2019s ten sustainable development priorities to treat all emissions and to protect the environment, conserve water and meet statutory standards.<\/p>\n
The brewer has also increased its use of locally-produced raw materials — especially sorghum, maize, cassava and rice — in the production of some of the company\u2019s product lines which will see no shortage of Ghana\u2019s favorite beer Club Beer.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Citi Business News<\/strong> at the sidelines of the inauguration, Managing Director Anthony Grendon said opening the plant for production means increased use of local raw materials with the company\u2019s commitment to accelerate growth and development in the country through support for local Ghanaian ventures.<\/p>\n \u201cABL as a subsidiary of SABMiller believes deeply in the principle of sustainable development, whereby through its actions it enhances and promotes the livelihoods of local communities.
