<\/p>\nThe European Union (EU) Ambassador to Ghana William Hanna has called for an empowering and inclusion of people living with disabilities in the society in order to commit\u00a0their full potentials to national development.<\/p>\n
He observed that the inclusion and the empowerment of People Living With Disabilities (PWD) is a prerequisite for harnessing a thorough human resource potentials for every nation.<\/p>\n
He said such countries would churn out PWD\u2019s that are more resourceful and persistent in their endeavors.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”lvHDxiVEtRlsr3FcmUfaxIbHitfL2F3G”]Sharing his observations in some countries where people living with disabilities have become the preference for most employers, the ambassador said PWD\u2019s play an essential role in national development. He explained that people living with disabilities display a high sense of dedication and hard work when given the chance in the society.<\/p>\n
The EU Ambassador to Ghana made this known during an official visit to VOICE-Ghana, a Ho-based disability interest advocacy NGO.<\/p>\n
\u2018\u2019Disabled people can be some of the most motivated workers; they can be people who are really interested to learn, and really they should be given a chance to fulfil their full potentials\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u2018\u2019There are many people living with disability in Ghana and they all should be given equal opportunity\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n
Mr William Hanna who was visibly impressed with the activities of VOICE-Ghana, encouraged civil society organizations and the media to open discussions in solving some pressing issues in the society.<\/p>\n
The ambassador commended VOICE-Ghana for making thrives in building an enabling environment for people with disability and encouraged government and stakeholders to support such initiatives.<\/p>\n
”Am really happy with what I have seen here; people are really trying to improve their own lives and we should support them”.<\/p>\n
He maintained that opening discussions on challenges in the society draws the attention of government and stakeholders to such areas.<\/p>\n

Mr Hanna, who took office some five months ago lead the delegation which include Mr Joseph Bogrebon Allan, Programme Officer of EU and the Protocol officer Mrs. Widad Adaku Quaye-Appenteng to inspect EU sponsored programmes in the Volta Region.<\/p>\n
The Director of Voice Ghana Mr Francis Asong together with some beneficiaries in the region expressed their gratitude for the supports. Mr Francis Asong however reiterated the need to improve the standard of living and social protection for persons with disabilities by involving them in the development programmes of the country.
