Two persons \u00a0were killed \u00a0while five others, including three children, were injured in an accident involving three cars between Akoti and Buduatta on the Winneba-Kasoa road.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The dead were the driver of a KIA truck, suspected to be about 30 years old, and a driver’s mate on the same truck, about 25 years old.<\/p>\n

The injured were the drivers of a Land Cruiser and a VW Passat saloon car and three other children who were seated on the front passenger’s seat of the KIA truck which was supposed to be occupied by one person.<\/p>\n

Eyewitness Account<\/h3>\n

An eyewitness told the Daily Graphic that the accident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2016 when one of the front tyres of the KIA truck burst while the vehicle was moving from Akoti to Kasoa.<\/p>\n

“We heard the sound of a burst tyre and l saw the driver trying to control the steering wheel,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The eyewitness said the KIA went out of control, drifted from its lane and slammed into the Land Cruiser, which was coming from the opposite direction, while the VW Passat saloon car, which was also behind the KIA truck, ran into the pile-up.<\/p>\n

\u201cImmediately the KIA\u2008hit the Land Cruiser, the mate, who was in the bucket of the truck, was thrown over the cars and his head hit the road. We saw blood all over and started running towards that direction.\u201d<\/p>\n

The KIA truck was loaded with musical speakers and some other musical gadgets used for outdoor events.<\/p>\n

The driver of the Land Cruiser suffered a serious head injury, while the driver of the Passat was pulled out of his car by occupants of other cars.<\/p>\n

Firefighters and Police<\/h3>\n

A few minutes after the accidents, firefighters and police personnel of the Highway Patrol Unit arrived, following distress calls from people in nearby communities and eyewitnesses.<\/p>\n

The firefighters and the police had to cut the door at the driver\u2019s side of the KIA truck to reach the driver, whose two legs were trapped in the car.<\/p>\n

The injured were rushed to the Winneba Hospital, while the bodies of the two deceased had been deposited at the morgue of the same hospital.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
