Work stress is making millions of workers neglect key parts of their lives which could affect their health, a survey found.<\/p>\n
It found 40 per cent of people felt their job has had a negative impact on their health in the last five years.<\/p>\n
The survey found that 43 per cent of people said their job had caused them to exercise less<\/strong>.<\/p>\n More than half said their jobs had led them to eat more<\/strong>.<\/p>\n A quarter said their jobs had led them to drink more booze<\/strong>.<\/p>\n One in ten said their jobs led them to smoke more<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Around 60 per cent of employees regularly do unpaid overtime<\/strong>. Two in ten work more than five hours unpaid per week.<\/p>\n The survey, by the British Heart Foundation, found that employees feared that long hours, smoking, drinking, over-eating and lack of exercise led employees to fear for their health.<\/p>\n 29%\u00a0thought the effects of their work\u00a0could lead to high blood pressure and 21 per cent fearing a heart attack or heart condition.<\/p>\n Lisa Young, from the British Heart Foundation said: \u2018This survey is a stark reminder of just what happens when we don\u2019t take our health at work seriously enough.<\/p>\n \u2018Millions of people say they are smoking more, exercising less and putting on weight because they\u2019re not considering the impact their job is having on their health and wellbeing.<\/p>\n \u2018Behaviours like these can be extremely damaging, not just to your heart health but also to businesses.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n Source: Metro UK<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Do you find yourself skipping the gym and exercising less due to long hours?
