{"id":91368,"date":"2015-02-13T20:20:58","date_gmt":"2015-02-13T20:20:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=91368"},"modified":"2015-02-13T20:20:58","modified_gmt":"2015-02-13T20:20:58","slug":"volta-hospitals-threaten-reject-nhis-cardholders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/02\/volta-hospitals-threaten-reject-nhis-cardholders\/","title":{"rendered":"Volta Hospitals threaten to reject NHIS cardholders if\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hospitals in the Volta Region are threatening to return to the cash and carry system if the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) does not pay monies owed them within 30 days.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;nR3MRNOaaV8bhOu7e238H9vNxkacAV18&#8243;]The Hospitals say they owe the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) over \u00a0GH\u00a230,000 and the Ghana Water Company over GH\u00a210,000 and demand that the NHIA pays the debt to enable them to defray such cost.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A number of health facilities have complained over the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/08\/06\/govt-incompetence-collapsing-nhis-minority\/#sthash.CLcG2LmX.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>delay in repayment for services<\/strong><\/a><\/span>\u00a0under the NHIS.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Addressing a news conference on Friday, the Volta Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Joseph Teye Nuertey said the NHIA owes the various hospitals over seven months arrears; a situation that is affecting their operations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u201cIn business term, you do not expect to owe an entity for over six months and the entity continue to provide credit facility to your clients.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe just want to sound a note of caution to the managers of NHIA that we have kept our part of the agreement for far too long\u2026on the other hand have blatantly violated their part of the agreement not to owe us for more than three months. Facilities are owing suppliers and are suffocating.
