President John Mahama has said he remains committed to his promise of ending the power crisis.<\/p>\n

He was speaking at this year’s annual convention of the Saviour Church of Ghana at Osiem in the Eastern region.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”V9fsAeaRSh5SytYUaTtDKiD1MGvOaEqj”]The president said government is working closely to add about 3,000 megawatts of power to the national grid by 2018.<\/p>\n

Ghanaians have expressed frustration over the worsening power situation<\/strong><\/a> <\/span>in the country.<\/p>\n

President Mahama about a week ago announced a number of measures being put in place to mitigate the situation including ordering the Ministry of Power to fast track the provision of emergency\u00a0power badges into the country.<\/p>\n

Addressing the convention, President Mahama said \u201cI know dumsor is a problem but I have also promised that government will do everything possible we can to get the country out of darkness.\u201d<\/p>\n

He indicated that \u201cthe plans we have for the nation are for the future and not just for today. We have signed agreement with a number of companies that will bring in 3,000 megawatts of power on board.When we add 3,000 megawatts of power to the existing 2,800 megawatts we will have enough for everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also reiterated his call on Ghanaians to conserve power<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

For his part, the General Superintendent of Saviour Church of Ghana, Opanyin Abraham Adusei, and advised Christians to eschew vices that could plunge the nation into chaos.<\/p>\n
