{"id":89360,"date":"2015-02-08T06:02:13","date_gmt":"2015-02-08T06:02:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=89360"},"modified":"2015-02-07T23:32:46","modified_gmt":"2015-02-07T23:32:46","slug":"mp-to-ban-social-functions-on-sanitation-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/02\/mp-to-ban-social-functions-on-sanitation-day\/","title":{"rendered":"MP to ban social functions on Sanitation Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The MP for Akatsi North Constituency Kwasi Nortsu-Kotoe has revealed that the District Assembly will enact a bye-law to prevent citizens\u00a0from organizing funerals and other social functions on days earmarked for the\u00a0National Sanitation Day (NSD).<\/p>\n<p>The MP observed that such social gatherings contribute to the low patronage during the NSD, as most people\u00a0prefer to attend such gathering instead of taking part in the clean-up exercises.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;HXtKd9L6kYeZBcA24gTxW92SeROBg5bb&#8221;]The situation he said requires an urgent enactment of the bye-law to\u00a0ensure an effective participation in the activities of the day.<\/p>\n<p>He said the\u00a0bye-law, when enacted, will help ensure that residents participate in\u00a0the exercise, adding that persons who fail to \u00a0participate i the exercise will be prosecuted.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2019Soon a byelaw would be enacted to prevent funerals and other gatherings\u00a0from being in the district during the national sanitation day; this will\u00a0all us participate fully in the clean-up exercise\u2019\u2019 he explained.<\/p>\n<p>Kwasi Nortsu-Kotoe revealed this at a program to inaugurate a nine-member\u00a0sanitation committee to implement the National Sanitation Day policy in the\u00a0Akatsi North District of the Volta Region.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the ceremony the District Chief Executive Mr James Gunu said\u00a0the district is ready to join her compatriots in observing the day on\u00a0Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>He encouraged residents in the district to come out in the\u00a0numbers to support the good course.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Norbert Akpabli\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The MP for Akatsi North Constituency Kwasi Nortsu-Kotoe has revealed that the District Assembly will enact a bye-law to prevent citizens\u00a0from organizing funerals and other social functions on days earmarked for the\u00a0National Sanitation Day (NSD).
