{"id":87863,"date":"2015-02-02T20:07:43","date_gmt":"2015-02-02T20:07:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=87863"},"modified":"2015-02-02T21:10:25","modified_gmt":"2015-02-02T21:10:25","slug":"gnpc-sabotaging-ghanas-power-sector-k-t-hammond","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/02\/gnpc-sabotaging-ghanas-power-sector-k-t-hammond\/","title":{"rendered":"GNPC is sabotaging Ghana\u2019s power sector &#8211; K.T Hammond"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Minority spokesperson on Energy, KT Hammond has accused the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) of sabotaging the development of Ghana\u2019s power sector.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;SxotLeDopXY6Mf3MeQDO2DXoqpMfkkKe&#8221;]\u201cWhen it comes to helping to redeem the darkness that we find ourselves in, GNPC is sabotaging the system,\u201d he stated on <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">K.T Hammond argued that \u00a0instead of putting Ghana\u2019s oil money to judicious use, GNPC \u201cspend all the oil money on hopeless and useless ventures like supporting Black Stars and putting up billboards\u2026 wasting our oil money to no fruitful purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">K.T Hammond insisted that, \u201cI know what I\u2019m talking about\u2026very soon, I will come out with the clear details for it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He was responding to comments made by the Minister of Power, Kwabena Donkor at a press conference on Monday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Kwabena-Donkor.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-87828\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Kwabena-Donkor.jpg\" alt=\"Kwabena Donkor\" width=\"960\" height=\"543\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Minister assured that the power crisis currently facing the country would be resolved before the end of 2015 following a number of measures being implemented by government.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;To this end the Ministry is working on different Emergency Power arrangements to shore up the supply situation. These arrangements will eventually increase our generation capacity by about 1,000MW in the short term and ultimately provide us the platform to pursue the medium to long term solutions. We are hopeful that these measures will stabilize the situation,&#8221; The minister added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But K.T Hammond disagreed saying such promises are not attainable in the shortest possible time because \u201cthe gestation period for these things is quite long.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe are in a critical and a serious situation. Akosombo is been hopelessly run, it\u2019s gone, the Aboadze plants are in hopeless conditions.
