{"id":86814,"date":"2015-01-30T15:32:33","date_gmt":"2015-01-30T15:32:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=86814"},"modified":"2015-01-30T15:32:33","modified_gmt":"2015-01-30T15:32:33","slug":"we-wont-allow-volta-chiefs-to-demand-oil-cash-if-western-region-chiefs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/01\/we-wont-allow-volta-chiefs-to-demand-oil-cash-if-western-region-chiefs\/","title":{"rendered":"We won\u2019t allow Volta chiefs to demand oil cash if\u2026 \u2013 Western Region Chiefs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some chiefs in the Western Region say they are keenly monitoring events from the exploration of oil reserves in the Volta Basin and will oppose any attempts by their colleagues in the Volta Region to demand a percentage of the oil cash.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;cjiFc3B5BZDbhghaLnPiFkbfLjP0WY4s&#8221;]&#8221;When we were fighting for the 10 percent most people did not agree, and the people that opposed the decision were from the Volta Region&#8221; adding that &#8220;We are keenly waiting and praying to see the day that oil will be in the Volta region for them to come up with any proposal,\u201d the\u00a0Vice President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs, Nana Kwesi Agyemang\u00a0said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nana Kwesi Agyemang, made this known at a public forum on the sidelines of the Public Interest and Accountability Committee\u2019s Report in the Western Region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said people of the Volta Region opposed their demands\u00a0and will do same should they make similar requests.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to Nana Kwesi Agyemang, \u201cWhen you look at the distribution of development projects in other parts of this country it does not indicate that people are serious with the comments they make when they meet the people of the Western Region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Chief made the\u00a0comments when a member of PIAC, Mr. Kwame Jantuah said that the absence of a national Development Plan is hampering development in the country especially the Western Region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nana Kwesi Agyemang said \u201cwhoever much is given much is expected\u201d and so their request for the 10 percent was to bring at par the infrastructural deficits which is crippling the development of the region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Obrempong Yaw Ampofo\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some chiefs in the Western Region say they are keenly monitoring events from the exploration of oil reserves in the Volta Basin and will oppose any attempts by their colleagues in the Volta Region to demand a percentage of the oil cash.
