This in is line with a directive given by the Supreme Court during the hearing of the Election Petition case which saw the New Patriotic Party (NPP) challenge the results of the 2012 presidential elections.<\/p>\n
The committee is there to critically review all proposals made on some electoral reforms to sanitize and make the electoral system more credible.<\/p>\n
This is to help amend existing laws, administrative procedures and arrangements ahead of the 2016 general elections.<\/p>\n
However, the composition of the committee saw representation from four political parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the NPP, the YES Party and the Convention People\u2019s Party (CPP).<\/p>\n
The exclusion of the People\u2019s National Convention (PNC) and the PPP has incurred the wrath<\/strong><\/a> of the leadership of both parties who have described the development as unfair and unjustifiable.<\/p>\n The PPP has however threatened to seek legal action<\/strong><\/span><\/a> against the EC.<\/p>\n But speaking to Citi News<\/strong>, the Director of Public Affairs at the Commission, Christian Owusu-Parry said the PPP has no case.<\/p>\n He observed that the Commission could not have included representatives from all the 23 registered political parties in Ghana therefore; his outfit is not discriminating against any political party.<\/p>\n He however acknowledged that \u201cit is their right to seek redress in court if they think that they have been treated unfairly.\u201d<\/p>\n Mr. Owusu-Parry said the \u201ccommittee is a committee of the Commission so the decision to have four parties representative, three Civil Society representatives and three people from the Commission was the decision of the Commission.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana![\"PPP\"](\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/PPP.jpg\")
