{"id":85761,"date":"2015-01-26T15:00:25","date_gmt":"2015-01-26T15:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=85761"},"modified":"2015-01-26T16:32:22","modified_gmt":"2015-01-26T16:32:22","slug":"15-picket-at-ministry-over-dismissal-of-state-housing-md","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/01\/15-picket-at-ministry-over-dismissal-of-state-housing-md\/","title":{"rendered":"15 picket at Ministry over dismissal of State Housing MD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some 15 persons on Monday picketed at the Ministry of Water resources, Works and Housing over the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/01\/23\/state-housing-md-sacked-for-alleged-embezzlement\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>suspension of the Managing Director<\/strong><\/a><\/span> of the company.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;7cQwindEFdkaCHePHyw47gHtE71KxtQh&#8221;]Dr Mark Nii Akwei Ankrah was asked to proceed on leave with immediate effect following <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/01\/24\/state-housing-md-accused-spending-gh%C2%A236000-phone-bills\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>allegations of embezzlement<\/strong><\/a><\/span>\u00a0leveled against him.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/01\/24\/committee-to-investigate-md-of-state-housing-company\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>three-member committee<\/strong><\/a><\/span> was then tasked to investigate the allegations of financial malfeasance against the MD.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They\u00a0protested for about 30 minutes and left the Ministry, promising to return later in the day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But speaking to <strong>Citi News<\/strong> the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the ministry Abraham Otabil said the Ministry is unperturbed about the brief demonstration.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to him, the Ministry doubted that the protestors were workers of the SHC<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt is the workers themselves who brought the petition against their MD, so it\u2019s not possible\u00a0 for them to be behind the demonstration,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to reports, at the time of their protest, the Minister and his Deputy had not reported to work yet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Patricia Conteh\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some 15 persons on Monday picketed at the Ministry of Water resources, Works and Housing over the suspension of the Managing Director of the company.
