The chiefs of the Asogli State in Ho are threatening to engage the services of Asogli warriors to take over the security of the Volta Regional capital saying they feel unsafe in the hands of the police.

[contextly_sidebar id=”VsLjFiJfJRGIHesDriDUQuMwnywjS6ej”]They claim the the crime rate in the town has increased despite the presence of the police team.

Warlord of the Asogli State Togbe Adzi Lakle Howusu XII accused the Police in Ho of only concentrating on checkpoints at night while robbers attack indigenes.

He said, “For the past six months or more, rampant robbery has been taking place and we believe that the police should be in charge so we expect the police to be on top of issues. Our security is in their hands so if they cannot perform then it means that we shall lose confidence in them and once we lose confidence in them we cannot rely on them for anything.”

“We are saying that if they cannot protect us then they should let us know. In the olden days our forefathers without the police were patrolling perfectly” adding that they will organize the youth “to keep watch over the town for us.”

Meanwhile the Volta Regional Police Command has denied the allegations that they provide poor policing in the capital.

The Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Peterkin Yentumi Gyinae insisted that his men are on the ground saying “there is no such thing like tension in the town; you can ask anybody on the street.”

“Of course like it can happen in any other region, you can have one or two issues that happen on our blind sides but that alone doesn’t make it a tension. So I am tempted to say that the chiefs have their own agenda.”

In another development, some robbers on Wednesday, stormed a private hospital in Ho and deprived sick patients of their monies and electrical gadgets.
