{"id":82637,"date":"2015-01-15T12:33:36","date_gmt":"2015-01-15T12:33:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=82637"},"modified":"2015-01-15T12:33:36","modified_gmt":"2015-01-15T12:33:36","slug":"kkd-rape-case-not-yet-over","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/01\/kkd-rape-case-not-yet-over\/","title":{"rendered":"KKD &#8216;rape&#8217; case not yet over"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kwesi Kyei Darkwa (KKD) is not yet a free man as the\u00a0Attorney General (AG) Department says it is yet to act on a letter written to\u00a0it by the alleged rape victim for the case to be discontinued.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;NNouehu95pA6h0oenMw4mdBqJreCjy86&#8243;] The 19-year old alleged raped victim wrote a letter to the court on her decision to discontinue the case citing the \u201cmedia frenzy\u201d which followed KKD\u2019s arrest and the never-ending buzz and social media posts as reasons for her decision.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The letter was subsequently forwarded to the AG&#8217;s department.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to senior state attorney at the AG\u2019s department, Vivian Lamptey, though they have received the letter, there are a number of questions to be answered before a final decision is taken on the matter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">KKD subsequently \u00a0issued a statement <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/01\/13\/kkd-apologizes-for-traumatizing-victim\/\" target=\"_blank\">apologizing for \u201ctraumatizing the victim<\/a><\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Citi News\u2019<\/strong> Fred Djabanor who was in court stated that the \u201cChief state Attorney made it clear that her outfit had received the letter for the withdrawal of the case and that the Attorney General had not taken a decision on the issue yet\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis is because they had to verify the authenticity of the letter\u00a0 and signature\u00a0 and also have some pressing questions answered before\u00a0 a decision as whether to continue the case or not court be taken,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile an Accra Human Rights <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/01\/15\/kkd-granted-bail-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">court has granted KKD bail<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>with the sum of\u00a0Gh\u00a220,000 with two sureties.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The bail according to court was \u00a0on humanitarian grounds and KKD&#8217;s\u00a0ill health.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin Allotey Akweiteh\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kwesi Kyei Darkwa (KKD) is not yet a free man as the\u00a0Attorney General (AG) Department says it is yet to act on a letter written to\u00a0it by the alleged rape victim for the case to be discontinued.
