Bernard Avle talks to US-based Ghanaian scientist, Dr Fred McBagonluri.<\/p>\n

Fred McBagonluri was born in East Legon, Ghana, the second of three sons to David Mac-Bagonluri and Patience Mensah.<\/p>\n

He briefly attended the St Augustine’s College in Cape Coast before attending Central State University, from where he gradudated with BS (summa cum laude) in Manufacturing Engineering.<\/p>\n

He obtained MS Engineering Mechanics from Virginia Tech and a PhD, Materials Engineering from the University of Dayton. He won 2008 Black Engineer of the Year: Most Promising Scientist, NJBiz Innovator Hero Award and a finalist 2009 NASA Astronaut Candidate Corps.<\/p>\n
