{"id":80390,"date":"2015-01-08T11:18:58","date_gmt":"2015-01-08T11:18:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=80390"},"modified":"2015-01-08T14:58:55","modified_gmt":"2015-01-08T14:58:55","slug":"stop-politicising-cocaine-saga-freddy-blay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/01\/stop-politicising-cocaine-saga-freddy-blay\/","title":{"rendered":"Stop politicising cocaine saga \u2013 Freddie Blay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Freddie Blay is asking Ghanaians to stop politicizing the Nayele cocaine saga and treat it like any other crime.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, dragging the issue along partisan lines only encourages criminals to conduct their illegal activities under the cloak of politics.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;HmLW2n9Xm2RBvTOFju780SdYlALcbv9n&#8221;]The two leading parties have been at each other\u2019s throat again over Nayele Ametefeh&#8217;s allegation that she was protected by some powerful politicians in 2004.<\/p>\n<p>However speaking in an interview with<strong> Citi News,\u00a0<\/strong>Freddie Blay said politicizing the drug trade will impede genuine efforts at fighting the menace.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So far us I am concerned, if anybody who was involved belongs to NDC or even NPP, the person should be exposed.Ghana should not have partisan shares in the Constitution &#8230; we as politicians must say no to drug trade particularly,&#8221;he stated.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Some criminals of \u00a0that kind of practice will put on political uniform and we will allow that and make them untouchable, it is unfortunate. Crime is crime, lets tackle it as such,&#8221;Blay added.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has cautioned the opposition New Patriotic \u00a0Party (NPP) to refrain from commenting on narcotics-related issues.<\/p>\n<p>The advice comes on the back accusation by the NPP\u2019s Director of Communications Nana Akomea that the Mahama led administration is <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/01\/07\/govt-complicit-in-nayele-cocaine-saga-npp\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><span style=\"color: #666699;\">complicit in the Nayele Ametefeh cocaine issue. \u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But speaking to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, National Organizer of the NDC, Kofi Adams said the NPP will be better off if it keeps quiet on drug related issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c I will advise Nana Akomea has been appointed as Communications Director of NPP, he has a responsibility to help NPP,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe will help NPP better if he stays away from commenting on matters relating to drugs because it is very clear that in this country when we want to talk about drugs and we want to politicize it, the first party that will come to a day old\u2019s mind is the NPP .. .\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nayele\u2019s mother not arrested yet<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a related development, the Airport Police has confirmed to<strong> Citi News<\/strong> that they are yet to make any arrest in the alleged assault on officials of the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB).<\/p>\n<p>NACOB filed an assault case against the woman at the Airport Police Station, following a scuffle between relatives of Nayele and officials of NACOB who attempted confiscating Nayele&#8217;s properties.<\/p>\n<p>The Commander in charge Of the Airport Police Station, Chief Superintendent Yao Tettegah indicated that investigations have not started yet because officials of NACOB have not officially identified the Nayele&#8217;s mother<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Today we are expecting the NACOB official to come and take us to the scene and identify the person who assaulted them.As Im speaking with you now, the officials have not come back \u00a0so we are waiting to enable us take further action.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Nayele was sentenced to<a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/01\/06\/nayele-sentenced-8-years-prison\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong> eight years eight months<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>imprisonment by a UK court for trying to smuggle 12 kg of cocaine \u00a0to the UK.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Marian Efe Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Freddie Blay is asking Ghanaians to stop politicizing the Nayele cocaine saga and treat it like any other crime.
