{"id":78916,"date":"2015-01-03T05:30:35","date_gmt":"2015-01-03T05:30:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=78916"},"modified":"2015-01-03T20:05:02","modified_gmt":"2015-01-03T20:05:02","slug":"reasons-for-10-fuel-price-reduction-not-enough-occupy-ghana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/01\/reasons-for-10-fuel-price-reduction-not-enough-occupy-ghana\/","title":{"rendered":"Reasons for 10% fuel price reduction not enough &#8211; Occupy Ghana"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pressure Group Occupy Ghana is asking the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) to publish how it arrived at a ten percent reduction on the petroleum products.<\/p>\n<p>According to the group, the explanation by the NPA for the reduction is not enough.<\/p>\n<p>Government on Wednesday<a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/12\/31\/fuel-prices-down-by-10\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong> announced a 10 percent reduction<\/strong><\/span><\/a> in\u00a0 fuel prices after<a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/12\/30\/npa-must-reduce-fuel-prices-afag\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong> incessant pressure<\/strong><\/span><\/a> from various political and pressure groups.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;8ib903Jc1x077tq0WFg5KBWekQUW9dc2&#8243;]A press statement issued by the NPA indicated that decision to review fuel prices forms part of efforts \u00a0to \u201creflect falling prices of petroleum product on the world market.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It further explained that the decision takes a balance position of continuous effort to \u201creduce outstanding under-recoveries \u00a0to the BDCs.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>However, a member of Occupy Ghana, Sydney Casely Hayford said it will write to the NPA to demand answers as to why it decided to reduce fuel prices by just 10 percent before taking further action against it [NPA].<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026We will ask the NPA to disclose publicly the entire mechanism through which it calculated and arrived at the 10 percent reduction.
