Concerned members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region have described the party’s current back and forth with Paul Afoko as a total disregard for his human rights.

The committee that vetted 44 aspirants put on hold, Mr. Afoko’s clearance for further interrogation.

The concerned members are appealing to patrons of the party to rise up against injustices directed towards members of the NPP.

According to them, future controversies similar to Paul Afoko’s case will destroy the party’s chances in 2016.

According to Citi News’ Upper East Regional correspondent, Fred Awuni, the spokesperson for the concerned members, Mr Roger Arthur Sugri said the vetting committee was bias and unfair adding that it put its integrity considering the manner in which it handled the petition against Mr. Afoko.

He said the vetting committee lacked regional balance and the so called petition wasn’t made available for Mr. Afoko to respond to, hence denying him the right to contend.

Mr. Arthur Sugri further reinstated that some incumbent members of the National Executive, who are currently being investigated for alleged misappropriation of funds have not had their vetting suspended yet.
