President John Mahama will symbolically turn on the pumps at the Kpong Water Supply Expansion Project today.<\/p>\n

This will deliver about 20 million gallons of water per day to communities in Adenta, Madina, Kwabenya, North and East Legon and its environs.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”7enFawHDhV24n6elqcW75lIhM1PA2Vpx”]These communities have be experiencing chronic water shortage for many years therefore, the completion of this project will thus bring relief to the residents in these areas.<\/p>\n

In February this year, the President inspected the project which is being executed by the Exim Bank of China and the government of Ghana.<\/p>\n

The project when finally completed is expected to pump 40 million gallons of water to residents in Accra.<\/p>\n

The Kpong Water Supply Expansion Project includes a water plant, an office building for the production and management of the water plant, water pumps, a substation, a raw water aeration tank, a low-load settling pond, an air-water backwash pond, a large clean water tank and water pipes as well as force pump stations concerning water purification technologies such as regular sediment, sand filtration and disinfection.<\/p>\n
