The University for Development Studies (UDS) has directed students on the Mathematics, Science and Technology \u00a0Scholarship Scheme (MASTESS) at the school to pay the arrears of their school fees for the second semester due to government’s failure to pay up.<\/p>\n
In a statement signed by the Dean of students, Israel K. Dzomeku, and sighted by citifmonline.com,<\/strong> the beneficiary students were asked to \u201cpay the arrears of their school fees during the Second Trimester (2014\/2015) registration.”<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”rVzHSyr1ifKI2cMLfJNQFEvFUSGcG3n8″]The move was, the statement said, as a result of the \u201cinability of the Ghana Government to release funds for the Mathematics, Science and Technology (MASTESS) scholarship for 2013\/2014 and 2014\/2015<\/p>\n The students were also advised to make plans to pay also for the next academic year.<\/p>\n The MASTESS, which was instituted in 2009, was designed to provide financial support to students in order to make specialisation in Science and Technology more attractive and rewarding.<\/p>\n The Scheme has reportedly provided support to over 10,000 \u00a0science students since its inception five years ago.<\/p>\n
