The New Patriotic Party(NPP) has said it is unfazed by the election of new executives for the National Democratic Congress(NDC.)

Speaking to Citi News the Director of Communications of the NPP Nana Akomea believes the new executives would be incapable of preventing the NDC’s defeat in 2016.

[contextly_sidebar id=”akPAOPadvbNUse4B0xrd9SZpLa0VE4qZ”]“We are not threatened at all. We are not perturbed at all. There is no reason to be perturbed. These new executives, I’m sure they have their own problems to deal with. We are not perturbed at all…,”Akomea stated.

“…As we go towards elections in 2016, there are two main things for us as a party. One is the performance of the government and number 2 is our ability to limit and manipulate the elections. With the first one; the performance of the government, everybody agrees that it is very very poor. There is massive youth unemployment, there is no hope for the youth. No government programme. The cost of living continue to goes through the roof. Every Ghanaian is suffering,” Akomea added.

Delegates of the NDC elected new national executives to steer the affairs of the party ahead of the 2016 general elections last Saturday.

A total of 3,354 party delegates elected the party’s new executives out of about 98 aspirants at the NDC’s 8th national delegates’ congress.

Some of the aspirants lost their positions while others were maintained.

Dr. Kwabena Adjei, for instance, was unseated by Kofi Portuphy while Asiedu Nketsia maintained his position as the party’s General Secretary.

Former Attorney General and Minister of Jusitice, Betty Mould Iddrisu was also elected as Vice chairman in the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
