The National Coordinator of the National Disaster Management (NADMO), Kofi Portuphy, has unseated the incumbent National Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Kwabena Adjei.<\/p>\n
He won the position by\u00a02,457 votes, representing about 75% of the total votes cast, compared to the 316 by the incumbent Dr. Kwabena Adjei.<\/p>\n
The third aspirant\u00a0Dan Abodakpi, polled 610 votes.<\/p>\n
The NDC chairmanship race was one of the most keenly contested national executive positions in the NDC.<\/p>\n
Mr Porturphy contested the position together with Dan Abodakpi, a former Minister of State and Dr. Kwabena Adjei who has held the position for two terms.<\/p>\n
The fourth aspirant, Alhaji Huudu Yahaya who is the incumbent Vice Chairman of the party withdrew from the race a few minutes to the commencement of the elections on Saturday in Kumasi.<\/p>\n
