{"id":74272,"date":"2014-12-15T17:48:40","date_gmt":"2014-12-15T17:48:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=74272"},"modified":"2014-12-15T17:55:25","modified_gmt":"2014-12-15T17:55:25","slug":"ppp-splinter-group-agrees-to-an-out-of-court-settlement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/12\/ppp-splinter-group-agrees-to-an-out-of-court-settlement\/","title":{"rendered":"PPP splinter group agrees to an out-of-court settlement \u00a0 \u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The splinter group within the Progressive People\u2019s Party (PPP) have opted for an out of court settlement with its party executives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Three members of the party went to court seeking to challenge the current national executives whom they accused of overstaying their term in office.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;ZCnbMHmMgPe7T9w5ZxM3viIOfViItqR7&#8243;]They argued that per the party\u2019s constitution their tenure in office elapsed in\u00a0December 2013.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Leader of the group Kwabena Octhere disclosed that they agreed on an out of court settlement after a meeting with the National Advisory Council of the party.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe had a meeting with all parties involved and it was agreed that the court case should be withdrawn and then the leadership would sit on the matter and do the right thing,\u201d he disclosed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He added that the group is waiting for the outcome, adding \u201cwe are waiting for them to follow the agreement that was reached at that meeting by calling for a national committee meeting and then asking the leadership to step down so that we can go into election of new leadership for our party.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the Party Kofi Asamoah-Siaw said they are yet to receive a formal notification to this effect.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cMy understanding is that all the parties will have to be served with that process even before we hear from the court.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know when we will be notified, but the national committee also needs time to communicate among itself to be able to bring a notification for the next meeting to be held and the main agenda will be to continue how we implement the rest of the 2014 agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a another development, the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/11\/03\/ppp-to-elect-national-executives-in-2015\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>PPP \u00a0is expected to elect its national executives in 2015<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the party, it is <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/10\/26\/ppp-is-best-alternative-to-ndc-and-npp-er-regional-chair\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>currently conducting constituency and regional elections<\/strong><\/a><\/span> across the country which they expect to complete by the end of 2014.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Patricia Conteh\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The splinter group within the Progressive People\u2019s Party (PPP) have opted for an out of court settlement with its party executives.
