{"id":73919,"date":"2014-12-14T13:52:00","date_gmt":"2014-12-14T13:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=73919"},"modified":"2014-12-14T13:52:00","modified_gmt":"2014-12-14T13:52:00","slug":"split-energy-and-petroleum-ministry-kofi-adda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/12\/split-energy-and-petroleum-ministry-kofi-adda\/","title":{"rendered":"Split Energy and Petroleum Ministry &#8211; Kofi Adda\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A former Minister of Energy, \u00a0Kofi Adda has advised President John Mahama to as a matter of urgency, decouple the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the operations of these two important outfits under one Ministry is unacceptable.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;zVINcJoXFSnrvRPLeWVAyr8X65V6jV2D&#8221;]President Mahama had earlier this year, created the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum to streamline all energy activities under one umbrella.<\/p>\n<p>But Mr Kofi Adda argued that the \u201ccreation was unnecessary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo have named the Ministry of Energy which includes power and petroleum as the Ministry of Energy and petroleum was really a disappointment and an embarrassment at the international level,\u201dhe said<\/p>\n<p>Mr Adda therefore, urged the Mahama led administration to decouple these ministries, adding \u201cthe government should come to its senses to separate energy from petroleum because it will make more sense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out that more effort needs to be \u00a0added in the county\u2019s energy sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is not changing the name that will bring any improvement to the energy situation today. The bottom line is the government should investigate about monies being payed into the wrong hands over the years and pay for what is required, the light crude oil that we need to be able to transform this economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>President John Mahama created a <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/11\/22\/kwabena-donkor-nominated-for-new-ministry-of-power\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>new Ministry of Power<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>and nominated MP for Pru East and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Energy, Dr. Kwabena Donkor to head it.<\/p>\n<p>The establishment of the Ministry forms part of a restructuring of the power sector to ensure more stability and security of power.<\/p>\n<p>There are divergent views on the creation of the new ministry as according to Dr. Wereko Brobby, former Volta River Authority boss, the new ministry <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/11\/22\/ministry-of-power-wont-resolve-dumsor-crisis-wereko-brobby\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>&#8220;will not solve Ghana\u2019s energy crises.&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Patricia Conteh\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A former Minister of Energy, \u00a0Kofi Adda has advised President John Mahama to as a matter of urgency, decouple the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum.
