{"id":73640,"date":"2014-12-12T11:58:28","date_gmt":"2014-12-12T11:58:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=73640"},"modified":"2014-12-12T11:58:28","modified_gmt":"2014-12-12T11:58:28","slug":"kumasi-airport-commences-night-flights-next-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/12\/kumasi-airport-commences-night-flights-next-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Kumasi airport commences night flights next week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Kumasi Airport will begin night operations next week.<\/p>\n<p>The move follows the completion of renovation works and the installation of an airfield ground lighting system at the airport.<\/p>\n<p>The airport is currently only open to traffic for 12 hours daily, from 6am to 6pm local time, due to the absence of a ground lighting system but this will change next week.<\/p>\n<p>President Mahama is expected to on Monday 15th December,2014 commission the completed renovation of the runway and installation of Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) system to pave way for the commencement of night operations at the Kumasi Airport.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Chief Director of the Ministry of Transport Twumasi \u2013 Ankra Selby \u201cit is our expectation that before Christmas we will see the night operations begin in Kumasi because everything is completed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kumasi is the second busiest airport in the country after the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) with all teh local airlines plying that route.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Citi Business News the Chief Director of the Ministry of Transport Twumasi \u2013 Ankra Selby said the 17.5 million dollar project will help cut down on road accidents on the Kumasi Highway and also reduce the turnaround time for travelers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLuckily enough the work for the overlay of the run way has been completed and the lightening system installed and God being on our side on Monday 15th December, 2014 His Excellency the President would be there to commission the project which has been completed and there after we will see the night operations commence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>By: Norvan Acquah &#8211; Hayford\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Kumasi Airport will begin night operations next week.
