{"id":72490,"date":"2014-12-08T17:42:36","date_gmt":"2014-12-08T17:42:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=72490"},"modified":"2014-12-09T06:22:46","modified_gmt":"2014-12-09T06:22:46","slug":"ndc-congress-faces-third-postponement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/12\/ndc-congress-faces-third-postponement\/","title":{"rendered":"NDC congress faces third postponement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Afram Plains North, Emmanuel Aboagye Didieye has filed a writ seeking an court injunction to restrain the party from holding its National Delegates\u2019 Congress to elect new national officers.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;igaYCdjd5rTvoHcHv0k2d9a0mzOCKb4N&#8221;]Emmanuel Aboagye Didieye who is seeking the injunction said there is an orchestrated attempt to disqualify him from contesting the position of the National Organizer of the party.<\/p>\n<p>Aboagye Didieye was cited as<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/12\/04\/ndc-congress-six-aspirants-withdraw-race\/\">\u00a0one of the six aspirants who withdrew from the race<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0by the party\u2019s General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Didieye in an interview on <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong> said: &#8220;When we get to the court, they should tell the court why they disqualified me&#8230; the balloting is out, why is my name not on the ballot?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There is no law that can disqualifies me&#8230;there is no such thing&#8230;&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>He stressed that he had enough evidence to prove that some party members are making attempts to frustrate him not to contest for the position.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;&#8230; I have realized and I have enough evidence and I am convinced that people are frustrating me, they are making attempts to frustrate me not to contest the National Organizer position.I am compelled by the press release by the General Secretary that I have been withdrawn,&#8221;he said.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that he failed to use the structures within the party to have his concerns addressed because the acting committee that will address the issue will delay in taking measures to address the issue.<\/p>\n<p>The MP had earlier told <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, that he had not withdrawn from aspiring to become the National Organizer of the NDC.<\/p>\n<p>He issued an ultimatum for the party to withdraw its allegation or face his wrath.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Didieye didn&#8217;t satisfy NDC Committee\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile \u00a0the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, George Lawson has said the party took a decision against the MP because he failed to satisfy the party with regards to the filling of his forms.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If you look on the form, about five people are supposed to endorse you [an aspirant] from each constituency and according to him, he had MPs to endorse him but their party numbers were not on the form and that was the requirement,&#8221;LAwson explained.<\/p>\n<p>Asked whether the vetting committee drew his attention to the fact that he had not met the requirements, he said &#8221; it was the vetting committee that drew his attention to the fact that he had not met the requirement&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If you are contesting a position at the national level, those who are endorsing your form should have their voter ID card numbers on them and he is aware of that ,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>According to Lawson, Didieye should have petitioned the vetting committee to have his grievances resolved rather than resorting to the court.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If he has taken it to Court, the fact is that our party has democratic procedures that you must adhere to and if he has not exhausted those procedures then I think he is digging his own grave.
