{"id":72484,"date":"2014-12-08T15:34:58","date_gmt":"2014-12-08T15:34:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=72484"},"modified":"2014-12-08T15:34:58","modified_gmt":"2014-12-08T15:34:58","slug":"negotiations-gas-transport-commences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/12\/negotiations-gas-transport-commences\/","title":{"rendered":"Negotiations on gas transport commences"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Negotiations on whether Ghana will construct an independent pipeline to transport gas to Tema or tie the West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCO) and that of Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC) to enable a reverse flow of gas from Aboadze to Tema have commenced.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Energy Ministry this is to allow for the excess gas that would be produced by Ghana Gas to be sent to the Tema enclave to be used to power plants of Volta River Authority (VRA) as well as the privately-owned Sunon Asogli thermal plant and the Cenit thermal plant.<\/p>\n<p>Currently the Sunon Asogli thermal plant and the Cenit thermal plant receive their gas from the West African Gas Pipeline from Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Citi Business News Communications Consultant to the Energy Ministry, Edward Bawa said the ministry sees the medium term project as a way to help Ghana maximize the use of gas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurrently there are two options either to independently construct a pipeline that will take the gas from Takoradi to Tema. The other option is working with WAPCO to have a revise flow of gas from Aboadze to Tema enclave. So they are the two options that are being looked at and currently negotiations are going on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Edward Bawa the move is for the medium term.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs to what action to take we are still taking a look at the various options, accessing the benefits of it.
