A collapsed building at Cantoments in the Greater Accra region has left twelve people critically injured and one person still trapped under the rubble.<\/p>\n
A combined team from the Ghana Police and the Ghana National Fire Service are currently working to rescue the last person from the debris.<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”b9c1oy9XlFGuzUQp9D3pnIhCxGtrhwhk”]Speaking to\u00a0Citi News<\/strong> the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Police Command ASP Effia Tenge said preliminary investigations suggest that the building was a restaurant under construction, adding that security officials are working to rescue the last person believed to be trapped under the rubble.<\/p>\n According to ASP Tenge, the building collapsed around 11:30pm last night when the victims were working at the site.<\/p>\n \u201cYesterday around 11:30pm the police had information that there was a collapsed building around Akai House so immediately the police dispatched men to the scene,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n She added that twelve persons were immediately sent to the Police Hospital and the 37 military hospital respectively for treatment \u201cbut six of them have been treated and discharged\u201d.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n However one person is still believed to be trapped and security personnel are currently making efforts to rescue the person.<\/p>\n
